Meet Kellan

Certified Executive Coach, Certified Team Coach,
ICF Certified Professional Coach &
Executive Coach for Smith School of Business at Queen’s University

After more than 25 years in the business world, my experience runs deep and spans the globe. I've lived and worked between Canada, US, Europe and the UK, and held leadership roles in several fast-paced industries.

I came into coaching by way of a successful career in business development, which was unfortunately bookended by decidedly soul-crushing, toxic environments.

Many around me were disengaged.
Accepting mediocrity for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Desperately needing guidance to find the seemingly elusive work/life balance.

Can you relate?

At some point I had to say, “enough is enough”. I quit.

For the first time in my life I didn’t have a plan.

Needing support while embracing the uncertainty, I hired a career coach and got the structure I needed to begin again.

After exploring alternative options, and then a reflective time-out travelling through South Asia, my love of business development stuck with me and I decided I could go back to the corporate world and provide a system of coaching that would impact peoples’ lives in a positive way.

I started out volunteering with newcomers to Canada before networking like crazy to build up my resume. This landed me with a job in Career Transition at Knightsbridge (now LHH Knightsbridge), where I had the privilege of working with clients from vastly different backgrounds.

Their work and life experiences, cultures, organizations, industries, job levels...you name it... I saw it all and was invited into some of the most interesting life stories.

In terms of my coaching strategy, it was through dialogue, tools and compassion that I was able to get my clients moving forward on the paths they deeply desired in both career and life.

You could say I was hooked!

In 2014 I got my Master’s certificate in executive coaching and transitioned to doing more leadership coaching. All while breaking away and building my own business.

Since taking up the entrepreneurial gauntlet, I’ve coached thousands of individuals and teams across industries. Showing them how to align across departments, be more productive, build confidence alongside resilience, and ultimately feel a whole lot better about what they are doing.

But first...

I am an artist (initially wanting to become an art therapist after university).

I love reading and cooking (often at the same time).

Gardening, entertaining, hanging out with my nieces and nephews, winter skiing, and exploring different cultures are my happy places.

And I see all the nuances in my clients as well.

Many people say they “coach the whole person,” but my clients will tell you that I truly care and bring a different perspective to that statement.

With me there’s no "hard edge" -- which is what some think executive coaches are about.

I bring a ton of compassion to the table.

Nothing is more exhilarating than seeing my clients soar past their personal and professional blocks, build self awareness and the skills critical to stepping into life and leadership with renewed passion.

It’s my WHY.

I’m incredibly privileged to coach executives who feel comfortable and safe enough to do the real inner work. The kind of work that not only makes them happier, but accelerates their success.

The reason I expanded into team coaching (about 10 years ago) is that I saw a lot of gaps and a need for greater collaboration among more than one organization’s cross-functional team. The kind of collaboration that not only improves the work environment, but allows room for the entire community to succeed.

Of course, with increased reliance on globalization, the necessity for team cohesiveness has increased.

Diversity of cognition, diversity of culture, communication, nuances, languages, perspectives... These are all game-changers when implemented effectively!

By developing teams that are truly united in a common mission -- with each individual a leader in their own right -- the impact is as great as it is sustainable.

So whether you’re an individual or part of a team, I look forward to hearing all about your challenges, goals and aspirations!

“Kellan challenged me to be curious, ask questions, share experiences and not make assumptions… We worked on letting go, managing expectations, and acknowledging that it is necessary to have difficult conversations and to focus on the growth they provide.”
